Illinois Holocaust Museum Head Concerned About Wednesday's D.C. Tragedy
Members of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center in Skokie are shocked and saddened about the shooting Wednesday inside of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

Richard Hirschhaut, director of the newly opened Skokie museum, says the facility has a state of the art security system, something thought of years before construction began.. He believes the system is ready for almost anything.

An 88-year-old gunman with a violent and anti-Semitic past opened fire with a rifle inside the crowded U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday, fatally wounding a security guard before being shot himself by other officers.

As a result of the shooting, the Skokie museum has heightened security.
