|City Outlines Storm Cleanup Plans
|The city public works crews are working to clear terrace trees and limbs from roadways throughout the city. After streets and terraces are cleared, crews will pick up storm damaged branches and limbs that cannot be placed in the weekly yard waste pickup. This work will begin on Tuesday, June 23. City crews will pick up the storm damage one day after the normal garbage collection schedule. The following guidelines apply and will be strictly adhered to:
First, weekly yard waste pickup - Residents are requested to place all limbs/branches that are less than 5" in diameter and less than 5' long in bundles less than 50 lbs. at the curb for the weekly yard waste pickup on their normal collection schedule. These limbs/branches are required to be tied with bio-degradable material such as twine.
Then, if necessary, city public works pickup - Residents are requested to place all limbs/branches that are more than 5" in diameter, less than 8' long and which weigh less than 50 lbs. on the terrace. City crews will pickup the limbs/branches the day after residents' normal trash pickup day.
Please note that no whole trees will be picked up by the city. Also, contractors, those hired to remove trees or branches, are not allowed to place debris on the terrace for pickup. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance agent regarding tree removal.
And finally, as an alternative for disposal of tree debris, Pickard Road Oversize Brush Drop-off Facility - The Pickard Road brush collection facility will be open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Saturday, June 27. Residents are encouraged to assist with the city-wide cleanup by dropping off their limbs/branches at the facility. Again, contractors, or those hired to remove trees or branches, are not allowed to haul debris to this collection facility.
Anyone with questions regarding storm tree debris can call the public works department at 345-3623.
