Hare Believes Government Administered Health Care Proposal Will Pass House; Not Sure About Senate
A local congressman believes legislators will have a government-administered health care bill ready to be signed by President Barack Obama by the end of July or in early August.

17th District Democrat Phil Hare recently discussed his views on the proposal making it's way through the House and the Senate.

Hare says he supports a bill that will have both public and private options for health care coverage providers. Hare tells WGIL the public plan he supports would be similar to the health care coverage federal employees, like him, have.

"Your premium will be based not upon what you made while you were working, but what you're making right now on a sliding scale...in other words, if you are collecting unemployment compensation, your premium would be based upon what your unemployment compensation is."

Hare says the plan is portable and would eliminate pre-existing conditions. He also hopes the plan that eventually goes to the President will eliminate high premiums and deductibles.

Hare is confident the bill will easily pass the House, but he says he doesn't really know how it will come out of the Senate, saying that chamber's bill probably won't have the public plan for health care.
