Another Round of Severe Weather Moves Through Galesburg Area
The Galesburg area was battered yet again by storms that left thousands of people without power.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for much of the area, beginning around 6:30 Saturday night. That was followed by heavy rain, a report of wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour in the Monmouth area that blew down signs and took out trees, which also occurred elsewhere. Additional reports included small hail, cloud-to-ground lightening, blown transformers that led to numerous power outages and a lot of standing water on streets and roads.

Ameren had 893 outages in Knox County, 600 in Warren and 284 in Henry County as of 8:15 p-m. The total number of homes and businesses served by Ameren Illinois utilities that were without power totaled more than 3,000.

The area remained under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p-m.
