Galesburg Man Sentened to Nearly 20 Years in Federal Prison on Drug and Gun Charges
POSTED 10:50 a-m 6/3/9 A man arrested by local and state authorities following a drug raid at his Galesburg home last year will spend nearly two decades in prison.

26-year old Carnail Grayson was sentenced Monday in federal court in Peoria to 170 months, or a little more than 14 years, in a federal penitentiary for possession of more than 50 grams of cocaine. He received an additional 5 year prison sentence - to run consecutively - for possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Documents from the U-S District Court in Peoria indicate Grayson will be on parole for 10 years after he serves his sentence.

The charges stem from a search warrant executed in May of last year by Galesburg Police, the Illinois State Police Central Tactical Response Team and the Multi-County Narcotics Enforcement Group at 335 Holton Street. Grayson was one of three people arrested after authorities say they seized over 33 grams powder and crack cocaine, a .38 caliber revolver with ammunition, 31 grams of marijuana and $2,200 in cash from the residence.

Officials obtained a second search warrant for a vehicle parked on the property, which they say turned up 90 grams of crack cocaine and 2,500 grams of marijuana.

Grayson pleaded guilty to the two felony charges last February as part of a plea agreement.
