Road Construction Planned for IL Route 116 in Henderson County
A stretch of Route 116 in Henderson County will be getting a facelift next week.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says the work is scheduled to begin Monday on Route 116 from the Illinois Route 94 intersection located just north of Stronghurst, through Media to Smithshire Road. Officials say lane closures and changing traffic patterns are expected.

The $10-million project improvements include the widening of Illinois Route 116, reconstruction of entrances, drainage improvements, removal and replacement of pavement just east of Media, reconstruction of the Route 94 / 116 intersection, removal and replacement of the structure over Middle Creek, as well as pavement patching and resurfacing.

The first phase of work is scheduled to be completed by October of 2009. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by November 2010.

Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes of travel to avoid traffic delays. IDOT reminds motorists to slow down and be alert while driving through all work zones.
