New Highway Planned Between Illinois and Indiana
The paper work has been signed to get planning under way for a new highway linking Illinois with Indiana.

This occurred at a signing ceremony in Lansing, Ill., for the so-called Illiana Expressway, a roughly 50-mile route connecting I-55 south of Joliet to I-65 near Lowell, Ind.

Gov. Pat Quinn says this will create 14,000 jobs, and help commercial development in Will County.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels also cited the economic development potential for his state. If nothing else, the road, which is years away from reality, would alleviate truck traffic on I-80-94 between Illinois and Indiana.

Environmental studies for the road can now begin.
