Police Investigate One Suspected Sexual Assault While Saying Another Was False
Galesburg Police are investigating the suspected sexual assault of a teenager while the say one reported the other day to police turned out to be false.

Police reports indicate officers talked with a 15-year old female Thursday, who claims two black males picked her up in a vehicle Wednesday night along Monmouth Boulevard, saying they would take her toward the Quick Sam's convenience store on South and Academy Streets.

The girl claims they instead took her to an apartment, where she was assaulted.

The girl provided no other details, and police were expected to set up an interview with the girl at the Knox County Child Advocacy Center.

No suspects are in custody.

Meantime, authorities say the story of a 16-year old girl who reported being raped Wednesday morning wasn't true.

The girl claimed she was forced into a vehicle while she was en route to Galesburg High School, taken to a Daniel Drive South home, and assaulted.

Police investigators claim there were inconsistencies in the girl's statement, and that the case has been sent to the Knox County State's Attorney for review and any further charges.
