Camp Reservations Can Now be Made Online
Making camping or shelter reservations at Illinois’ state parks and other sites is about to go online.

Starting July 7, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will no longer take phone or mailed camping or picnic shelter reservations, and will offer the service only through a company called ReserveAmerica.

DNR spokesman Chris McCloud says the change will make the reservation process more convenient for campers and picnickers. He says one of the benefits is an instant confirmation of any reservation made at a state park, recreation area, or state fish and wildlife area.

Reservations for regular campsites and group campsites require a $5 non-refundable reservation fee and payment of the full camping and utility fees at the time the reservation is made. Camping fee information for IDNR sites is available by CLICKING HERE. Payment of the entire camping and utility fee amount will guarantee that the reservation will be held for the entire length of the stay. Shelter reservation fees are $25.

McCloud did not know if DNR would be paying ReserveAmerica for this service.
