Federally-Qualified Health Clinic Makes Progress; Health Department Employee Resigns
The Knox County Board of Health is working to make their health clinic a federally qualified one. The application is due sometime this summer, but requires the clinic to have a governance board.

Health Department Administrator Heidi Brittion, however, says that shouldn't be a problem because a number of people have shown an interest in serving.

"The table is set," Britton said. "Everyone is so passionate about making that the clinic is a clinic, and that it's there. It's actually a really wonderful thing.

Members of the Board of Health will vote next month on who will be on the health clinic's governance board; it could have between nine and 13 members.

The board of health also discussed replacing Wil Hayes, the Director of Health Protections. Hayes will be leaving department at the end of the month and taking a position with the Peoria City County Health Department.
