UPDATE: Two Juveniles Now Arrested for Monmouth Schools Vandalism
FIRST REPORTED 12:00pm 6/16/10, UPDATED 6:00am 6/17/10 13-year-old and 16-year old boys from Monmouth have been arrested in connection to vandalism at Monmouth-Roseville High School and Immaculate Conception School.

The 13-year old was arrested Tuesday after an ongoing investigation by the Monmouth Police Department matched his fingerprints with evidence taken from the damaged schools. Police had issued a warrant for the arrest of the 16-year old, who was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Warren County State's Attorney Albert "Chip" Algren says he plans to seek jail sentences for the boys, who are being held at the Mary Davis Home in Galesburg. Authorities are not releasing their names and Algren says they can't be charged as adults.

Both schools sustained more than $30,000 in damage when they were broken into and vandalized between late April 23 and early April 24. Officials say no items were taken from the schools, but office equipment, trophies, the cases they were housed in and numerous other items were either damaged or destroyed.

The boys are facing two counts each of burglary and criminal damage to property in the case. All of the charges are felonies.
