Extensions Given in Sheley Case -- Behind Closed Doors
POSTED 12:16pm 6/18/10 Both the defense and prosecution will have even more time to work on their arguments in the Nicholas Sheley case.

The parties came to an agreement during a closed door session Friday morning in Knox County Circuit Court, despite the fact an open hearing on the motion for the extension was scheduled for just an hour later.

Defense attorney Jeremy Karlin had requested more time to prepare the arguments he will use during the trail.

The deadline for disclosure of the arguments by both the defense and prosecution had been set for June 30th.

Sheley's defense team will now have until September 15th.

The Knox County State's Attorney agreed with the extension and received one of their own. The prosecution now has until July 15th to provide a more detailed presentation of evidence they will use that relates to crimes Sheley is accused of in other states.

The defense will have 30 days after July 15th to respond to the evidence.

Nicholas Sheley is charged with a dozen and a half murder and other felony charges in connection to the 2008 death of 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg.
