Police Investigate Armed Robbery During Severe Weather
A Galesburg gas station was robbed at what was believed to be one of the heights of the severe weather that went through the area Tuesday night.

Galesburg Police reports indicate officers were called to the Shell gas station on Grand Avenue around 10:45 pm. Employees in the store told investigators a black male entered the store, grabbed one of them by the hair and neck, and demanded money -- all while brandishing what was believed to be a .22 Derringer revolver.

An employee says she gave the man a metal change box that had about $200 in it, and that the man also got away with another almost $300 in the cash register, before fleeing the area on foot.

He was believed to have been last seen running northbound on Ohio Avenue.

A store surveillance camera is believed to have videotaped the robbery in progress.

Police believe the suspect is about six-feet tall, 180 pounds, and was wearing a black mask, a black hat with white lettering, a black shirt, black pants, and possibly socks or something else on his hands.

The black male is also believed to have had a deep voice.

Anyone with information on the alleged robbery is asked to call Galesburg Police or Galesburg-Area Crimestoppers.

No one was hurt.
