Cohen Files for Lt. Gov.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- After dropping his bid for lieutenant governor, Scott Lee Cohen has filed petitions to jump into the race for Illinois governor.

Cohen filed over 133,000 signatures with the State Board of Elections on Monday.

He needs 50,000 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot. His political opponents are likely to comb through the petitions and challenge any names that appear to be improper.

Cohen was pressured into resigning as the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor after revelations about his personal life -- including accusations of domestic abuse, steroid use and failing to pay child support.

Cohen will say little about those allegations now. He claims they're in the past and his campaign is about the future.
