Two Arrested in Methamphetamine Bust at Galesburg Hotel
POSTED 3:24 p.m. 6/21/10, UPDATED 3:06 p.m. 6/22/10 Two local residents are jailed after Galesburg police responded to a hotel and discovered a suspected methamphetamine lab.

Officers were called out to the Best Western Prairie Inn on Soangetaha Road around 2:30 Monday morning to investigate a suspicious odor in one of the rooms. Officials at the hotel got no response from anyone inside the room and police evacuated the wing it's in when they arrived.

Authorities say after entering the room they found an unconscious 29-year old man inside. The unidentified man was taken to OSF St. Mary Medical Center. His condition is unknown. Police say the source of the suspicious odor was an active meth lab, prompting them to call in the Galesburg Special OPS Unit and the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team to process evidence.

Further investigation led police to two people they say were associated with the hotel room through a traffic stop. The stop allegedly turned up containers of anhydrous ammonia and meth manufacturing paraphernalia in the trunk of the vehicle. Officers arrested 36-year old Yvonne Rutledge and 28-year old Claudia Sidell, both of Galesburg. The two are facing preliminary charges of unlawful possession of anhydrous ammonia and unlawful transportation of anhydrous ammonia.

Rutledge and Sidell are being held in the Knox County Jail awaiting initial court appearances. Police say the investigation continues and more arrests are pending.
