$80 Million Available for Transporation in Illinois
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Communities in Illinois looking to improve street-scapes, hiking trails or make other transportation-related improvement can apply for about $80 million in federal money.

Illinois Transportation Secretary Gary Hannig announced the availability of the funding yesterday. State officials say the money will be awarded for local projects that expand travel choices and expand transportation in Illinois. The money comes through this year's Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.

State officials say they expect the funding to create about 870 jobs in the state.
An application is available online and the deadline is August 31st.
