Monmouth City Council Approves DAF Bid
The Northwest Water Treatment Plant in Monmouth needs an upgrade and the city is moving ahead with the project.

The purpose of the project is to remove phosphorous because testing shows there is too much in the system.

At last night's city council meeting, members voted to approve a bid from Clean Water Technologies Incorporated in Los Angeles, California.

The group provided the lowest bid of nearly $206,000. That comes in under the city's estimated cost of $211,000.

The water plant needs a dissolved air floatation device or a "DAF" unit.

City Clerk Susan Trevor says the city is waiting for funds from the Illinois Department of Commerce to purchase the DAF air unit.

The council also approved a measure to establish business building rehabilitation grants for the downtown area.
