Blago Bitter at Emanuel Message About Senate Seat
CHICAGO (AP) -- Rod Blagojevich became bitter when told that newly elected President Barack Obama would give him thanks - but nothing else - in return for naming an Obama favorite to the U.S. Senate.

On a tape played Thursday at the former Illinois governor's corruption trial, Blagojevich is heard saying they won't give him ``anything but appreciation,'' then cursing.

He was reacting to a message from Obama aide Rahm Emanuel, delivered by a lobbyist, that if he named Valerie Jarrett to Obama's former seat the president-elect would be ``thankful and appreciative.''

According to Harris and the governor's remarks on FBI tapes, Blagojevich had been hoping for a Cabinet post or a highly paid private sector job in return for the seat.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges including scheming to sell the Senate seat and to racketeering.
