Official Kick Off for Railroad Days
The start of the 33rd annual Railroad Days in Galesburg kicked off with opening ceremonies Friday night.

A crowed gathered just behind the Amtrak depot to hear from Galesburg Mayor Sal Garza, State Representative of the 74th District Don Moffitt, Railroad Museum President Harold Zeihr and Railroad Days Committee Chairman Dennis Clark.

All the speakers thanked volunteers and organizations who worked so hard to put on the event.

Committee Chairman Clark encourage everyone who lives in Galesburg, whether as a life time resident or a new person in town, to experience the culture of the city at Railroad Days.

Representative Moffitt specifically took the time to thank BNSF for helping Galesburg to thrive as the city's largest employer. He ended his speech with a hearty shout of "Bring on the trains!" just as a train began blowing it's loud whistle on the tracks.
