Pottery on the Square Successful Show
Pottery dealers and enthusiasts from all over descended upon Monmouth Saturday.

Monmouth's annual Pottery on the Square was held Saturday morning.

Pam Ellis, with the Collectors of Illinois Pottery and Stoneware Club, says the event was the biggest success they have had yet.

"Actually we had people from several different states, from Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, all showed up. We probably had about 50 different dealers here bringing pottery and just stoneware enthusiasts really from all over. It was really quite a fun event, this was our 5th year and really the largest event we've had."

The event includes some experts that attend to appraise pottery pieces, in a type of "Antiques Roadshow" fashion. One woman brought a small ceramic pig and found it was worth $800.

Another man offered a woman $10,000 for some rare Sleepyeye pottery she brought in. She could not part with the pieces, however.
