2nd Suspected Sex Offender Arrested at Railroad Days
FIRST REPORTED 9:00am 6/28/10 A second person in as many days was arrested by Galesburg Police because of a state law that bans registered sex offenders from working at fairs and festivals.

Galesburg Police reports indicate 24-year old Shaun McCague of Marseilles in LaSalle County was arrested late Saturday night on a felony charge of being a Registered Sex Offender at an Amusement Fair with Children Present.

Officers say they were investigating a damage complaint on South Kellogg Street where the Railroad Days carnival was set up when a check of McCague indicated he was a registered sex offender.

McCague reportedly told officers that he was indeed working at the carnival, and even told his probation officer he was doing so. But McCague said his probation officer didn't tell him he couldn't work at a fair.

McCague was taken to the Knox County Jail but it's not clear what his status is.

A search of McCague in the Illinois Sex Offender Registry online did not turn up his name.

23-year old Chad Craig of Galesburg was arrested Friday night on similar charges and two drug-related counts, while he was allegedly working at the carnival.
