Galesburg Salvation Army Again Robbed
Galesburg police were called to the area near 500 block of North Kellogg Street about a suspicious silver vehicle. A black male was seen exiting then re-entering the car.

While responding to the call, officers noticed a basement window of the Salvation Army was missing a screen. Upon inspecting the outside of the building, police found it to be secure, but could see lights on and doors open inside.

Salvation Army Captain Rick Ray was called and he allowed officers into the building. It was soon discovered a safe had been taken, which contained $65 in cash, some valuable coins, and vehicle titles and registration.

Ray said he had been in a meeting from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, but named two men who were in the building for a couple hours while it was open.

Officers knew one of the men, and his brother ,had been in trouble for prior burglaries in the area. Police also learned the second man was living with his sister, who drives a silver vehicle and dates a black male.

Police believe, as in the past, suspects may have unlocked a basement window while the building was open during the day. Suspects could then enter through the window later when the building is closed.

Police have not named any suspects in the case but the investigation continues according to police reports.
