Blago Judge Denies Playing Obama Interview in Court
The judge in the political corruption trial of ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich has denied a motion by the defense to hear a recorded interview.

That FBI interview was with president-elect Barack Obama in the days following his election. Defense attorneys said their request was prompted by testimony from Blagojevich’s former chief of staff John Harris, as well as tapes played in court.

Judge James B. Zagel said there was nothing "even remotely relevant" to Harris' testimony.

Meanwhile, cross examination of Harris will take less time than first predicted. Defense attorney Sam Adam expects to finish up with Harris Tuesday.

During cross examination, Harris again was questioned about possible Senate appointments. Harris says Blagojevich briefly kicked around the idea of appointing Oprah Winfrey to the seat, calling her a "king maker," and saying that she "made" Obama.

The government says the next witness to take the stand will be Service Employees International Union President Tom Balanoff.
