Knoxville Surveys Due This Week
Knoxville aldermen want some community input for the future of the city.

The Knoxville Community Planning Group has put out a survey for residents to fill out so leaders will know what the people feel is best for the town.

City Clerk Pam Eagle tells WGIL the survey idea really stemmed from one alderman.

"We have a new alderman -- new to the city, anyway -- Jim Eastwood," Eagle said. "He has really been gung-ho on wanting to know what the community thinks, what they would like. He wanted to see what the townspeople wanted, so the best way to do that was to send out a survey."

About 1,500 surveys were sent out in the middle of June. Eagle says they hope to get at least a third of that back.

Some questions address how people feel about how city police and fire services are doing, do town businesses meet the needs of residents, and how people feel about the issue of alcohol not allowed for sale in town.

The surveys are due back to City Hall by Friday.
