Knox County Nursing Home Opens New Wing
Two wings at the Knox County Nursing Home were closed recently, but one has re-opened.

The extra space made it possible to move some residents into different rooms. That in turn gave officials the ability to dedicate a different wing to residents with special needs.

Administrator Kathy Kopsack tells WGIL about the new Memory Care Unit.

"Opening that wing it is creating some spaces in another wing and we are going to call this wing our Memory Care Unit and that will enable us to admit residents that have Alzheimers or dementia that need a secure unit."

Kopsack says the other closed wing is currently undergoing reconstruction.

She says new admissions to the nursing home required the first wing to reopen. The Knox County Nursing Home went from 81 residents in May, up to 96 as of Wednesday.

Kopsack took over as administrator June first.
