Prosecutors: Search Won't Delay Peterson Trial
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) -- A spokesman for the Will County state's attorney's office says a search for the remains of former police officer Drew Peterson's fourth wife won't delay Peterson's upcoming trial for the murder of his third wife.

Spokesman Chuck Pelkie said Monday prosecutors plan to move forward with the scheduled July 8 date.

Investigators on Saturday searched a remote location near Peoria for the remains of Stacy Peterson, who disappeared in 2007.

An anthropologist who excavated three spots on Saturday says he found only animal bones. He's advised investigators to return to the area with a device that gets images of what's underground.

Drew Peterson is a suspect in Stacy Peterson's disappearance. He's in custody at the Will County Jail awaiting trial for the murder of a previous wife. He's denied any wrongdoing.
