Moffitt Prepares to Head Back to Springfield
Lawmakers finished up their spring session on time with a budget passed, plus a number of other issues addressed, but Governor Pat Quinn says they're not done.

Local State Representative Don Moffitt tells the WGIL Morning News Quinn may call them back into special session to deal with one specific bill.

"So the funding bill for construction projects, ones in this current construction season, as well as, reappropriating funds left over to projects that were initially approved in 2009, could all come to a halt. And the Governor is saying without our approval just about all of our construction jobs, programs, projects, could actually grind to a halt."

Moffitt says the House had originally passed the bill, it was sent to the Senate where $430 million in new spending was tacked on to the bill, and then sent back to the House for approval where it failed.

Moffitt says that occurred with just hours left in the session May 31st so the bill was never taken up again, but he believes Quinn will keep lawmakers in Springfield until it is passed.

Moffitt agreed with the bill in original form, but says he will not support the new spending.
