Teen Pregnancy Program Cound End Across State, County
A program to assist teen parents in Knox County could soon come to a close.
Budget money was completely cut for the Teen Parent Services Program in the state.

The Knox County Health Department administers the program and Rhonda Peterson with department says it has been a big help for a lot of people.

"Currently we have about 23 clients on the TPS program and just to remind you, it is the program where we try to assist and navigate parenting or pregnant through the school system to get their GED or high school diploma."

Peterson adds that 12 people graduated this year thanks to the program.
She says though the department is still hoping things will turn around.

"As in the past, I think two years ago, they told us that too and right at the last minute it came about so we aren't going to go anything until July."

The program was not funded under the proposed state budget sent to the governor, but he has not signed it yet and lawmakers could soon be headed back to Springfield for a special session.
