A Familiar Refrain at Area Town Hall Meeting
It might have sounded a little familiar if you're a regular attendee of 17th District Congressman Bobby Schilling's town hall meetings in the area.

Schilling has talked much about trying to be as bi-partisan as possible, unemployment, and energy independence. But, while speaking to constituents at Monmouth City Hall Thursday, there were some new issues discussed.

Like the ongoing issues with the federal budget and efforts to raise the debt ceiling.

"I've heard two theories from economists in Washington, and one is if the debt ceiling does not get raised - it's Armageddon and the other is if the debt ceiling does get raised it's Armageddon in two years with a possible collapse."

The Colona Republican says people ask him all the time what he's going to do about the federal debt ceiling, and he says it's simple: President Obama isn't going to get "a free ride;" 73 percent of members of Congress, he claims, made that clear last week.

Schilling says deep spending cuts need to be made to the federal budget before any debt ceiling increase occurs.

Schilling also held a town hall meeting in Gulfport Friday.
