2 IL Men Charged in Kidnapping, Beating
CARLINVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Two central Illinois men are charged with kidnapping after allegedly abducting and beating a man with a baseball bat.

Thomas Castagno and Cory Fuiten, both 32 and of Virden, are being held at the Macoupin County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Illinois State Police say the 26-year-old victim was abducted Wednesday night in Girard and held inside a cargo van as it was driven through Macoupin and Sangamon counties.

The victim says he was beaten with a baseball bat and punched several times. He was able to escape and sought help at a rural home.

Police say they tracked down the suspects at a tavern, where they were taken into custody.

They're charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated unlawful restraint.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the men have attorneys.
