Remembering Flag Day
Flag Day in the United States has officially been celebrated since 1949, when President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation establishing the holiday in honor of Old Glory.

A small ceremony was held Tuesday at the Knox County Nursing Home with the Patriot Guard and Amvets on hand.

Local attorney Bill Butts spoke about the day, and the importance of the symbol of our nation.

"We we see a flag, we see all of us, we celebrate all of them, we celebrate the men and women in our military forces, we celebrate the honor and memory of them, but we also see the Declaration of Independence, we also see the constitution of the United States, we also see the Bill of Rights, we also see our right of suffrage, all these things the flag represents."

The Amvets also demonstrated how a flag is folded and what each fold means, including the first fold of life, and folds honoring service men and women, and our country itself.
