Library Intern Finds 2 Unknown Lincoln Documents
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A college student from Gurnee in northern Illinois didn't have your typical summer internship at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.

The museum says David Spriegel, a student at St. Mary's University in Minnesota, found two previously unknown documents written by Abraham Lincoln.

Spriegel was on the second week of his internship when he found the documents written in 1844 when he was organizing a 4-inch stack of old documents.

Experts at the library confirmed Lincoln's handwriting and determined the documents were part of a legal case.

The two documents now are included among the 1,580 other original Lincoln manuscripts at the presidential library and museum.
