Sheley Staying in Prison for Now
Accused spree killer Nicholas Sheley says he has no major problems right now with the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The accused spree killer told a hearing in Knox County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon that he is now able to properly view documents in the case so he can represent himself, that includes both CD and DVD evidence that has been given to him.

Sheley, however, accused prosecutors of doing a shoddy job of transferring some of the documents, not using the right types of CD's or DVD's for those files.
He also says the Illinois Department of Corrections has given him all the documents related to the case, so that he can continue to do all the legal work necessary from his cell at the Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet.

That led the prosecution to withdraw a motion to have Sheley transported to the Knox County Jail prior to a late-August trial date.

This, after reports indicated that the Knox County Sheriffs Department spent hundreds of dollars of taxpayer money on the equipment Sheley would have needed.

Sheley faces nearly 20 felony murder and other counts for the late-June, 2008 death of 65-year old Ronald Randall. Sheley will next be in court next month for a pre-trial hearing.
