IHSA Makes Sweeping Changes
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois High School Association has announced wide-ranging changes to the way it holds competitions.

IHSA executive director Marty Hickman said in a Thursday statement that the new policies are the ``biggest changes the IHSA has undertaken in some time.'' They association's board adopted the changes at a meeting on Monday.

Specifically, teams from the same high school will compete in different classes. Placement will depend on everything from enrollment to a program's past successes. Enrollment cutoffs for classes will be different for every sport: a school may play Class 3A boys basketball and Class 2A girls basketball.

IHSA also will have an automatic waiver of its attendance multiplier for sports without recent postseason success.
