More on 34 Ends Saturday
Mother Nature may or may not accommodate, but that doesn't necessarily keep shoppers away from good deals.

The Fathers Day weekend has become the weekend for the annual "More on 34" festival -- yard sales and other activities in communities all along U.S. 34 from Galesburg to Aurora, and is an event that organizers say was conceived in Kewanee.

Galesburg-Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Judy Guenseth tells WGIL Galesburg is in a pretty good spot to get plenty of good publicity from this event.

"We get prominence because we are kind of it; it's Galesburg to Aurora," Guenseth said. "It's kind of some unique advertising in that respect. We're kind of the beginning of it. We've actually gotten calls from people in Springfield and Chatham who are going to come up and go to this."

While there are no specific special events planned for Galesburg outside of the usual morning Farmers Markets Saturday, organizers say there will be plenty of yard sales and other activities. In Galva, the Galva Arts Council will benefit a sale being held there. The Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton is expected to be full of vendors, and it's Railroad Crossing Days in Mendota.
