Garage Ordinance Up for Final Vote Monday
Two weeks was apparently all the city of Galesburg's administration needed to consider changes to a proposed ordinance changing the allowable size for residential garages.

The Galesburg City Council Monday night is scheduled to take a final vote on a proposal to expand the allowable size of residential accessory structures from 1,000 square feet to $2,000 ependent on various setbacks.

Aldermen wanted the administration to look into matter after discussing the issue two weeks ago.

Some aldermen were concerned, among other things, about proposed setbacks from the home's property line.

The Galesburg Planning and Zoning unanimously approved the proposed changes several weeks ago, after aldermen claimed earlier in the year they had support for such changes.

Aldermen Monday will also consider an agreement with local businessman Mark Kleine which will see 246 East Main Street renovated. In addition to numerous renovations for the first two floors of the building that C-I-I Embroidery is in, the city says Kleine wants to convert the third floor into loft-style apartments.

The Galesburg City Council meets at 6:15pm Monday inside council chambers at City Hall.
