Bond Set for Accused Attempted Murderer
Bond has been set in the case of the Galesburg man accused of trying to kill a woman over the weekend.

Knox County Circuit Court Judge Scott Shiplett set 50 year old James Booker's bond during a hearing Wednesday afternoon at a $500,000, and that he'll need 10 percent, or $50,000, to get out of the Knox County Jail while awaiting trial.

Booker faces three-counts of attempted first-degree murder, two-counts of home
invasion, and single counts of Aggravated Domestic Battery and Violating an Order of Protection.

Booker was arrested Saturday evening. Police and prosecutors say he got into an argument with a 37 year old woman in a home along the 1300 block of Lane Avenue. He then allegedly got a steak knife and stabbed the woman seven times.

Police later located the knife, and the victim was treated at a local hospital.
Shiplett Tuesday initially denied bond in the case until an assessment could be completed.

Booker will next be in court Monday for a first appearance with his appointed public defender.
