Superintendent of Monmouth-Roseville Being Forced Out
Some would argue he's doing everything the Monmouth-Roseville School Board asked him to do, but in the end, they're still not keeping him.

The Monmouth-Roseville School Board voted Tuesday night to not renew the contract of Superintendent Paul Woehlke when it expires at the end of of June of next year.

It's not clear why Woehlke won't be brought back. It was said when he was hired part of the reason he was so that the district's finances could be brought in order. The district had deficit budgets every year since consolidation, and then-Superintendent Martin Payne left the district with a budget deficit well over a half-million dollars.

Woehlke said in 2009 he felt that his financial background, especially as finance chief with the Galesburg School District, would be a benefit in that regard.

Woehlke declined to be interviewed, directing all thoughts to a statement he issued, which lists that and myriad other things the district has done, from upgrading technology and adding Smart Boards, to establishing academic and other achievement goals for all district students.

He says he'll help to continue progressing District 238 in the year he has left in the district.

The board did approve a new contract with the district's teachers union Tuesday night, and that includes two-percent raises.
