IL Treasurer: State Saves Money With New Lease
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford says the state will save about $106,000 under a renegotiated office-space lease.

The treasurer's unclaimed property division has 43 employees in a building on Springfield's Old State Capitol square.

The Republican says Myers Family Real Estate LLC was willing to reconfigure first-floor space. Rutherford is also putting millions of pieces of paper on microfilm so employees are moving off the building's eighth floor.

A vault will stay on that floor.

The new lease will save nearly $27,000 a year.

Rutherford says the deal fulfills a priority to keep office space in the capital's downtown.
