Railroad Days Committee Chair to Resign
The Galesburg Railroad Days committee will need a new chairperson soon.

Dennis Clark announced during Friday evening's opening ceremonies at the Galesburg Railroad Museum he wants to resign his post -- he said next year.

Clark says he wants to focus his efforts on another part of the Railroad Days committee.

"I would like to take another role on the committee," Clark said. "I'd like to be the head of a committee that brings new ideas and new events to Galesburg Railroad Days. I think that needs to be done for the (City's 175th) anniversary next year. So, at this point, I guess I'm speaking out that, that's where I want to go to. About seven or eight new events, big events."

Clark says the annual Rib Cookoff that the Galesburg Jaycees had put on had to be cancelled this year, but he wants to bring it back next year and be made bigger.

Clark also suggested that more excursion trips both to and from Galesburg need to be implemented, so that even more people can be brought to town to see what made the city famous.
