Peoria Hospital Exec Going to Virginia
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Michael Bryant has been named president and CEO of Centra Health.

Centra's board of directors announced Bryant's hiring on Monday. The 56-year-old Bryant's appointment is effective Oct. 10. He will succeed George Dawson, who is retiring.

Bryant currently is head of Methodist Health Services Corp. and Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.

Centra operates three hospitals, along with health and rehabilitation centers, a cancer center, physician practices and other facilities in central and southside Virginia. It employs more than 5,000 workers.

Bryant tells The News & Advance that he envisions a coordinated-care model that's "healthy person-centric." He says Centra can be the model for mid-market communities around the country in making the transition to such care.
