Blagojevich Nearly Speechless Following Verdict
(IRN) -- Convicted ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich didn't have much to say as he left court.

Speaking briefly to reporters, Blagojevich said he was "stunned."

"Patti and I obviously are very disappointed in the outcome," Blagojevich said. "I frankly am stunned. There's not much left to say other than we want to get home to our little girls and talk to them and explain things to them and then try to sort things out and I'm sure we’ll be seeing you guys again."

Blagojevich was found guilty on 17 of 20 counts in his re-trial. Many of them are convictions for wire fraud related to charges that the governor tried to sell or trade an appointment to the U.S. Senate for campaign contributions. The jury found him not guilty on one count and was hung on two others.

While Blagojevich wasn't chatty, prosecutors were. United States Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said that the jury sent a message that Blagojevich committed very serious crimes. He called the occasion "bittersweet."

Prosecutor Reid Schar said that the government is working on a forfeiture agreement of Blagojevich's Chicago residence and a condominium in Washington to secure bond. The judge has imposed travel restrictions on Blagojevich.
