Quinn Reacts to Blago Verdict
(IRN) -- Now that former Gov. Rod Blagojevich appears to be headed to federal prison -- just like former Gov. George Ryan -- the man in office now wants to see more reform.

Gov. Pat Quinn, speaking to reporters in Chicago Monday afternoon, says he honors the jury's verdict. And, he says, the corruption that resulted in federal convictions against his two predecessors is the perfect reason to give Illinois voters more recall powers.

Quinn says another idea he wants to advance is stronger conflict-of-interest rules for members of the legislature.

Quinn was lieutenant governor while Blagojevich was governor, but -- as he is quick to point out -- they were not a team. Quinn says Blagojevich didn't even speak to him. At that time, the candidates for governor and lieutenant governor did not run as a team in the primary.
