Local Reaction to Blagojevich Verdict
A local attorney says the prosecution did what they needed to do in order to get former Governor Rod Blagojevich convicted during the retrial.

Lawyer and alderman Jeremy Karlin says simply, the jury got it, and found Blagojevich guilty on every charge related to the alleged attempt to sell or trade President Obama's vacant U.S. Senate seat.

Karlin tells WGIL the way prosecutors presented their case this time around was a huge help to them.

"Like good attorneys would, [the prosecutors] find out what they did right and what the did wrong," Karlin said. "When that happened, they streamlined the evidence. They made it in, I think, half the time. And, I think they made it so easy, a Chicago jury could understand it."

Karlin says pre-trial publicity was a detriment to Blagojevich -- since he brought most of it on himself, appearing on the Celebrity Apprentice, as a radio talk show host in Chicago, and even in a commercial for pistachios.

Karlin says if it were him representing the ex-Governor, he likely would have told Blagojevich to keep quiet.
