LaHood Talks Blago at Kiwanis
New State Senator Darin LaHood spent a lot of time talking about the budget situation and what he has and hasn't been able to accomplish since replacing the retiring Dale Risinger earlier this year.

But the Rod Blagojevich conviction wasn't far from his mind when he talked with the Galesburg Noon Kiwanis Club Tuesday.

The Peoria Republican, a former federal prosecutor, says now that the conviction has been handed down, it's time to move on.

"I hope we can get this sad chapter in our history behind us," LaHood said. "But the fact that Illinois has had four of our last eight governors convicted felons, what does that say about our state in terms of the corruption that's infiltrated our system? We have to get beyond this. We really do?"

LaHood says Blagojevich's message does send an important message about prosecution of such acts, but admits that the whole incident was, "an embarrassment" to our state.
