Green Kitchen Open at Sustainable Business Center
A new opportunity is available in Galesburg for potential business owners to start up -- especially if they're looking to make their way in the food industry.

The city's new Sustainable Business Center Wednesday showed off to the public for the first time its new "green" kitchen -- called "En Season."

Center Director Eric Dilts tells WGIL there's an important reason behind the name of the facility.

"It's 'En Season' because everything that we serve is organic, chemically-free, pesticide-free," Dilts said. "And, we grow our own food, and we use all the local produce from the surrounding food producers."

Dilts says a potential food-based business owner can come to the kitchen essentially, bring with them what they want to make, and the center will work with them to commercialize them and make them ready for distribution.

That includes, he says, building a business plan and helping them implement it, along with packaging, marketing, and other means.

He says there already has been plenty of interest.
