Woman Wanted After Fire at Local Home
A Galesburg woman is wanted after a house fire late Wednesday night.

Galesburg Police reports say officers and firefighters were called to 761 East Brooks Street just before midnight after smoke was seen from some second story windows.

They say two subjects were drunk and waiting for officers on the porch, and one -- 40-year old Michael Charles -- had to be escorted from the fire after both were told to go across the street.

Officers say a woman was on a roof above a porch and was found after running to a neighbor's house.

Neighbors told officers they rescued two children from the home -- ages two and four -- who had been sleeping on a couch.

Also found was 27-year old Katrina Mason. She and Charles were both taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City with burn injuries but their conditions aren't known.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Mason, charging her with Child Endangerment. They cited a number of past run-ins with the law Mason had.

Officials say a candle was the cause of the fire, and the blaze was out in less than 10 minutes.

The children were turned over to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The home, police say, had no electricity or gas service.
