State Wants to Recycle Agrichemical Containers
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois Department of Agriculture is asking farmers to save empty agrichemical containers so they can be recycled.

In a news release, the department says that beginning in August it will grind the containers into small plastic chips. The chips can be used to make everything from drainage tubing to plastic lumber to shipping pallets. The process will happen at sites around the state.

The department says the program only includes agrichemical containers that have been cleaned and dried. Metal and household pesticide containers won't be ground up.
Farmers are asked to call the department toll free at 1-800-641-3934 for a free brochure.
