Illinois National Guard Heading to SD Flooding
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois National Guard says it has sent five crew members and a Chinook helicopter to South Dakota to help with rising floodwaters.

The crew left Friday from Company B, 2nd Battalion 238th Aviation based in Peoria. They will stack one-ton sandbags to help stabilize the levy along the Missouri River near Sioux City, Iowa.

Maj. Gen William Enyart is adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard. He says Illinois members are always prepared to help their neighbors because, ``rising floodwater is something that we completely understand here in Illinois.''

Approximately 1,000 South Dakota National Guard soldiers and airmen have been trying to hold back flood waters in the upper plains state this week.
