Canton Man Killed on I-39 While Fixing Vehicle
STEWARD, Ill. (AP) -- A Canton man who stopped on Interstate 39 to fix his mobile home is dead after being struck by a semi truck.

WGLC Radio reports that the accident happened Monday on I-39 near Steward in northern Illinois.

Illinois State Police officials report that 35 year old Jared Lafferty was under his motor home to fix a mechanical problem.

That's when the tractor-trailer crossed onto the shoulder, struck the parked vehicle and dragged Lafferty about 80 feet.
His passenger, 35 year old Shae Lafferty, was taken to Rochelle Hospital.
